We’re celebrating our 60th anniversary!
Please let us start this blog post by saying how thrilled we are to be one of the longest established heating maintenance companies in Dorset.
This month marks 60 years since Asbury started trading. Covering Dorset, Hampshire, Wiltshire, Sussex, and Surrey, we provide businesses with a range of services that includes boiler servicing and repair, installations, air conditioning, and gas safety certificates.
Les and Barbara Asbury founded the business (then known as L.L. Asbury) in 1962, after Les completed a heating and ventilation apprenticeship. Back then, Asbury offered installation, service, and repair of oil and gas fired boiler plant.
The guiding principles – quality service, delivered by highly qualified staff – that Les brought to the business, were carried on by his daughter, Jane Benton, who formerly served as Managing Director. In November 2019, Dan and Catherine bought and took over management of the business. At that time, there were four engineers, two office staff, and one Service Manager.
It’s incredible to be celebrating such a big milestone, and we believe that our longevity is down to our outstanding workmanship and commitment to serving the local community. The fact that some of our customers have been clients of the company since it began 60 years ago is a testament to the success of our principles.
As part of our ongoing commitment to providing exemplary workmanship, Asbury is Gas Safe registered and a member of OFTEC. Our engineers attend regular training and re-assessments, as well product and safety training courses.
In its early days, the business was run from the Asbury family home, before moving to new premises in the Penn Hill area in 1969. In 2005, the business outgrew these premises, and we moved to a larger, more modern space at the Wessex Trade Centre in Poole. We are now operating from Glenmore Business Park in Parkstone.
Today, we focus our activities on the specialist sector of commercial heating plant, and maintain a wide variety of gas and oil fired appliances and ancillary equipment. We offer reactive maintenance and repair to a wide range of clients, including educational establishments, hotels, offices, shops, and private estates.
Since 2019, when Dan and Catherine took over, the company has grown to include one apprentice engineer, five qualified engineers, and a Head of Operations.
