Sid Tolley is one of our four heating engineer apprentices. Keep reading to find out how he landed his role at Asbury, what a typical day looks like for him, and more about Asbury as a whole!
Background
Sid has always loved hands-on work, so he knew he wanted a career that involved working with tools. He started by helping his brother with his plumbing business, but quickly realised he wanted to tackle larger projects. He found that opportunity by applying for – and becoming – a commercial heating engineer apprentice at Asbury Heating.
Current Role
Sid stays busy with a mix of service calls, routine boiler maintenance, and unexpected breakdown repairs. On the job, he uses his problem-solving skills and practical knowledge to quickly get things running again. He also communicates clearly with his team and explains everything to clients to keep the entire process going smoothly.
Skills Developed
Sid started his role at Asbury by shadowing seasoned engineers, learning from their example, and participating in hands-on training. As his skills developed, he gradually took on more responsibilities and worked on various commercial installations, including a major project for David Lloyd. This experience helped him sharpen his abilities in using tools and performing engineering tasks such as installations, maintenance, and repairs.
One of the most valuable lessons Sid has learned during his apprenticeship is the importance of teamwork. He has learned to work collaboratively to complete jobs efficiently and accurately, often partnering with fellow apprentice Joey to achieve the quick, effective results our clients expect.
Company Culture
Sid describes Asbury as a supportive and fun-loving team. He enjoys the social events we put on, like go-karting and team meals, and notes how they bring everyone together and keep the team firing on all cylinders when they’re out tackling projects.
