Henry is one of four talented heating engineer apprentices currently on our team. Read on to learn about his journey with us, a typical day in his role, and more about what makes Asbury the leading commercial heating company in the South!
Background
Henry, a hands-on person who wasn’t keen on the typical university path, was drawn to the practical world of gas engineering, plumbing, and heating. Asbury stood out as the ideal place to start his career in commercial heating, which led him to join our team in 2023.
Current Role
Henry’s days are never the same, which is one of the aspects he loves most about his role. Each morning, he starts at Asbury HQ in Poole to get his assignments before heading out to different work sites with our experienced engineers. Their guidance has been invaluable in building his confidence. Once on site, he’s always ready to help, whether it’s making tea for the team or tackling the technical challenges in the boiler room.
Skills Developed
During his apprenticeship, Henry has been hands-on with several installations, maintenance jobs, and other projects. While his role was limited in the beginning, he’s gained a lot of experience working alongside both new and experienced engineers, as well as other apprentices.
One of the biggest things Henry’s learned is how important communication is. Talking openly between engineers and the office team is essential for any project to succeed. He knows that a team where everyone communicates well is the key to making things run smoothly and getting great results.
Henry wants to build a long career at Asbury Heating. In the next five years, he hopes to be a fully qualified gas engineer, and wants to learn about oil systems too by getting OFTEC certified.
