The Brief
Nestled along the shores of Sandbanks in Poole, the Royal Motor Yacht Club (RMYC) is one of the world’s premier yacht clubs for motorboats and sailing.
The team at Asbury have been servicing and maintaining the RMYC’s heating and hot water systems for a number of years now. In July 2023, we attended their site to perform their annual service and make sure all their equipment was in working order.
What Did We Do?
We carried out several tasks to make sure RMYC’s heating and hot water systems were performing at their best. Here’s a rundown of what we did:
Surveying the Heating and Hot Water Systems
When servicing one of their heating boilers, it became clear that the boiler had suffered from internal corrosion. Its ages meant that a repair was uneconomical.
We spoke with the site manager about the issue and the possible solutions we could provide. After discussing the various options, they were happy to move forward with our suggestion of installing a newer model to replace their old boiler.
Replacing the Old Boiler
After the owners agreed to our quote, we wasted no time in getting started with a thorough risk assessment. Once completed, our team of Gas Safe registered engineers carefully removed the old boiler.
We’d decided a like-for-like replacement would be the most fitting solution, so we installed a brand-new Remeha Quinta boiler in the old model’s place. The result was a sleek, energy-efficient system that perfectly aligned with the club’s heating needs.
Upgrading the Building Management System (BMS)
To make the switch to the newer Remeha Quinta model even smoother, we also upgraded their BMS. This upgrade made it easier to spot any issues and fine-tune the system for its best performance.
