Replacement Boiler Installation at Christchurch Harbour Hotel & Spa

The Brief
Christchurch Harbour Hotel & Spa is a 67-room boutique hotel and spa facility, which was previously utilising just one aged and deteriorated boiler.
What Did We Do?
To best determine what was required, we visited Christchurch Harbour Hotel & Spa and carried out a site survey. Based on our assessment, we suggested and it was agreed that we were to replace and install new boilers at the hotel, as well as configuring the relevant pipework and electrical fixtures.
Tasks Completed Prior to the Full Works
Initially, we installed a temporary boiler to ensure the hotel did not go without water or heating throughout the duration of the works.
Ahead of the full works, we built a concrete base to house the new boilers. We also ensured we were in position to isolate the services to the new Lochnivar boilers.
Removing the Old Boiler
To be in a position to remove the old boiler, we had to drain down the cylinder. Once drained, we were then able to the disconnect the pipework. Following the disconnection, we removed the boiler and cylinder from the hotel boiler room and transported it away from the premises.
Installing the New Water Heaters and Boilers
Following the removal of the old boiler, we had the new Lochinvar boilers delivered, and were positioned correctly within the hotel boiler room. The pipework was then reconfigured to match the requirements of the new boilers. We also completed the electrical installation required for the water heaters.
These tasks were then followed by the flue installation, which was then connected onto the boilers. We then installed de-stratification pumps and lagged all exposed pipework before filling and testing the boilers. The boilers were then commissioned. Finally, we cleared all debris from the hotel ensuring easy and clean access to the boilers and heaters for authorised hotel staff members.
